The Town of Brentwood, NH is seeking a full-time Recreation Director to plan and manage community programs, events, and sports leagues, oversee recreation facilities and site rentals, and promote activities for residents of all ages. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in Recreation Management, Sports Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience), 3–5 years of experience in recreation or community services, strong organizational and leadership skills, and a valid NH driver’s license. This exempt position requires some evening and weekend hours. The salary range for this position is $60,000–$70,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Job Posting – Recreation Director
The Town of Brentwood, New Hampshire is seeking a qualified, energetic, and community-oriented
professional to serve as its Recreation Director. This is a full-time position responsible for
planning, organizing, and administering recreational, social, athletic, and community programs for
residents of all ages. The Director works under the direction of the Town Administrator and in
collaboration with the Recreation Commission and other town boards and committees.
Responsibilities:
• Develop, plan, and implement recreational programs, events, sports leagues, and
community activities.
• Manage operations of the Brentwood Recreation Center, athletic fields, playgrounds, and
other recreation facilities.
• Administer site and facility rentals, including scheduling, contracts, and fee collection.
• Recruit, train, and supervise part-time staff and volunteers.
• Prepare and manage the Recreation Department’s annual operating budget; monitor
expenses and revenues.
• Ensure compliance with safety, health, and legal regulations related to recreation programs.
• Promote recreation programs through newsletters, social media, the town website, and
community outreach.
• Manage a recreation-based summer camp with week-to-week enrollment for school-aged
children.
• Maintain program registration systems, records, and participant feedback.
• Evaluate program efficacy and attendance to determine sustainability of all existing and
new programs.
• Serve as liaison to schools, civic organizations, and regional recreation partners.
• Experience with graphic design, recreation marketing, social media, and print advertising.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Management, Physical Education, Sports
Management, Public Administration, or a related field. Equivalent experience may be
considered.
• Experience: At least 3–5 years of progressively responsible experience in municipal
recreation, youth programs, athletics, or community services. Supervisory and budgetary
experience are preferred.
• License: Valid New Hampshire driver’s license required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Strong organizational and leadership skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities; able to work effectively with residents,
boards, and outside organizations.
• Budget management and program scheduling skills.
• Knowledge of recreational programming, sports league organization, facility scheduling,
and risk management.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Canva or other graphic software, recreation management
software.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed for programs
and events.
