Town of Brentwood Joint Finance Committee
Open Resident Member-at-Large Position(s)
The Town of Brentwood is seeking interested Brentwood residents to fill up to two Resident Member-at-Large positions on the Joint Finance Committee, a standing advisory committee of the Selectboard and the Municipal Budget Committee.
The Joint Finance Committee was established by the Selectboard on October 6, 2026 to provide ongoing oversight of the Town's financial reporting, internal controls, and annual audit. The Committee includes representatives of the Selectboard and the Municipal Budget Committee, the Town Treasurer, and resident members appointed by the Selectboard. The Committee is advisory: it reviews, asks questions, and makes recommendations in public session, and does not prepare the annual budget or direct Town staff.
Because the Committee will begin its work by reviewing the Town's 2024 audit findings and the related corrective action plan, the Committee is particularly interested in residents with professional experience in accounting, auditing, or internal controls who are prepared to become actively involved immediately.
Helpful experience and qualifications include:
? Professional experience in accounting, auditing, internal controls, municipal finance, or a comparable field
? Familiarity with New Hampshire municipal government and the municipal financial reporting and audit process (helpful, but not required)
? An ability to review financial statements, reconciliations, and audit reports, ask questions, and make fact-based recommendations
? Independence from the Town's financial function (Town financial staff are not eligible to serve as voting members)
? A willingness and ability to attend at least four regular Committee meetings per year, held in public session in accordance with RSA 91-A
How to Apply
Interested Brentwood residents should submit a letter of interest explaining their interest in serving on the Joint Finance Committee and briefly describing relevant experience or qualifications.
Letters of interest must be received on or before October 28th, 2026.
Please send letters to:
Letty Bedard, Selectboard Member Appointee
[email protected]
Gabbie Kelly, Budget Committee Appointee
[email protected]
Candidates will be invited to attend the first Joint Committee meeting currently scheduled for October 29th, 2026 at 5:30pm for an interview. The current Selectboard and Budget Committee members of the Joint Committee will ask each candidate the same set of questions and will subsequently deliberate and vote to appoint the resident member(s).
Resident members are appointed by the Committee to staggered three-year terms and will serve in accordance with the Joint Finance Committee charter.
